This hotel offered excellent service and my stay was very enjoyable. Friendly staff and pleasant surroundings

10/10 - Lorna from Llanfyllin, UK (Solo leisure traveller) on 01/04/2006
The website was very accurate and I knew exactly what I was booking in advance. This was a return visit to the hotel as I found it so excellent the first time. The owners were very kind to me after I had a traumatic journey and was delayed considerably. They waited up for my very late arrival and helped me plan my route the following day. Lovely and clean. Very friendly place, like being at home.

10/10 Iain from Birkdale, UK (Group of work colleagues) on 18/03/2006
Overall this is an excellent hotel if you are looking for somewhere affordable that offers good quality accomodation with a quiet and relaxing environment. The staff were very friendly and helpful, giving help with directions and local information where necessary. The hotel is 5 minutes away from Crawley leisure complex, including a cinema, bowling alley, various restaurants and Sainsburys. I would definatley recommond a stay at this hotel.

9/10 - Charles from Claremore, US (Solo leisure traveller) on 14/03/2006
I have no criticisms or complaints, a very welcome retreat after a busy nine days touring the UK. An excellent place to recoup from jet lag after arriving at LGW and an excellent place to wind down prior to departing LGW. With the prices in the UK I don't anticipate returning but should I reconsider, this accommodation would be my first stop. I will recommend this hotel to Rick Steves. Great place to relax, very comfortable and congenial owners.

9/10 - David from Bradford On Avon, UK (Mature couple) on 07/03/2006
This is not your usual anonymous corporate stop-over for Gatwick and you actually meet the owners and their pets! Food is available in the spacious conservatory on Sunday through Thursday nights and the wellstocked bar has excellent bottled offerings from the Hog's Back Brewery. The rooms are well maintained and clean, the beds VERY comfortable, and a complementary run to the airport is available at regular times from 6am. The value for money, including car parking is excellent.

Delightfully friendly and informal and absolutely perfect as a stopover for Gatwick c/w parking. The location would also make an interesting venue for a family get-together and the grounds are massive. We've stayed there at least five times now, albeit as a single night stop-over.

Our room was on the ground floor overlooking the gardens, early morning we could watch the deer from our room, the beds are very comfy and no lack of duvets, pillows or extra throws (although these were not needed, the owner even gave us a lift into town as we were staying two nights so we could have a look around and advised us on places to visit also gave us telephone n0 for taxi for return journey. Very helpful friendly owners and staff, very clean and comfortable rooms, and warm also.

Evening meals were not available Friday, Saturday and Sunday but there are a couple of excellent pubs nearby. The hotel phoned to book us a table for dinner and provided a map to get there. Breakfast in the conservatory was a wonderful way to start the day. The owner and his wife are very friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money.

I was not just a number.

10/10 - Tanya from Orrell, UK (Solo business traveller) on 21/01/2006
What a great find! Everybody was very friendly, the cleanliness and comfort of the room and other areas was great, and there were even deer to watch in the back garden whilst I was eating my breakfast. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area - I will certainly be going back.

The room was comfortable and clean - great value, particularly in this area.

Second overnight stay prior to leaving Gatwick Airport. Very happy with service. Convenient location for Gatwick Airport. Useful transit service to airport.Good room, breakfast, friendly atmosphere.

I knew this hotel was very close to the Airport but in spite of that I was not bothered by any plane noise. I also saw three deer one morning while waiting for a cab and watched squirels play in the back yard during breakfast. I would recomend this guest house to anyone.

10/10 Anonymous (Solo business traveller) on 16/10/2005
The B&B was set in a 34 acre site where you could watch deer roaming while eating your cooked breakfast. I also liked the fact that you could also order an evening meal, there was also a well stocked bar. It was comfortable, quiet and clean with a very nice en suite bathroom

Nice setting

9/10 Mary from Fort Thomas, US (Other) on 29/09/2005
The quiet country setting was very relaxing, yet it is located only 15 minutes from Gatwick Airport. Though our room was small, it was comfortably furnished. We had an early departure (prior to breakfast service), but were invited to help ourselves to cereal, yogurt, juice and coffee available in the conservatory. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Beautiful country setting. Conservatory breakfast room was delightful.

the hotel was absolutely lovely, a gorgeous house and fantastic grounds, the staff were very polite and helpful too, giving us maps to the local pub and the airport. Brighton is only approx 25 miles away and Gatwick is close enough to get to, i would love to stay at Waterhall again
.

7/10 Julia from West Hampstead, UK (Young couple) on 05/09/2005
Comfortable rooms and modern bathroom.

8/10 Anonymous (Young couple) on 01/09/2005
The hotel grounds are lovely, with areas to walk and sit.Bathroom was excellent, size of shower was exceptional

10/10 Anonymous (Solo business traveller) on 29/08/2005
This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The owners are friendly, the accommodation is faultless, and the location is ideal. By car, it takes about 5 minutes to reach the town centre and although it's on the Gatwick flight path, there's next to no noise whatsoever. Personally, I wouldn't think twice about recommending this hotel to anyone.

Nothing to dislike, very clean, tidy and practical, one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in.

8/10 Heather from Exmouth, UK (Mature couple) on 26/08/2005
We and our American friends had such a pleasant overnight stay at the Waterhall Hotel that we all wish it could have been longer and we certainly would like to stay again in the future. The accomodation was very comfortable and the house and gardens beautiful

9/10 Ann from Birmingham, UK (Family with older children) on 25/08/2005
Although there is some plane noise the hotel is in a secluded country lane and it's own grounds at the back, so no traffic noise. Crawley is only a short drive away for restaurants, shops, pubs, etc. The rooms are clean and comfortable with good matresses and pillows and pleasant decor. The proprietor was really friendly and helpful, giving us a map of how to get to our airport terminal and recommending a place to eat the evening before.

The hotel itself is set in the heart of the country but surprisingly easy to find (I am prone to getting lost), the directions were very clear. It is a small quiet hotel in a very pretty setting - I even spotted a couple of deer. The owner was friendly. The cooked breakfast of bacon and scrambled eggs was very nice. I was only there for a night but it was a very pleasant stay. The room was nicely furnished in pine and had everything I needed. The bathroom appeared newly refurbished.

9/10 Ramona from Bournemouth, UK (Young couple) on 12/07/2005
We booked this online from a search of hotels. The attaction was the value and parking. The hotel was easy to find and had a lovely country setting and was ideal for a stop over before flying from Gatwick.Allthough they were fully booked it did not seem overcrowded. The is alot of airtraffic but this did not bother us. You can have a great home cooked meal and if your flight is very early there is a help-yourself breakfast in the morning. They will arrange your taxi or free drop off at the airport at specified times. All in all I would rate this hotel very highly for a stop over and will certainly recommend this to our friends and family.

7/10 Anonymous (Group of adult friends) on 12/07/2005
Overall, I think I would again use this hotel the night before a flight out of Gatwick. The bathroom was very small but okay for a single night stay. Surprised how quiet it was given its proximity to the airport. The staff was responsive to our needs. Very convenient to Gatwick. Good parking close to hotel. Nice atmosphere.

9/10 Elizabeth from Thornton Cleveleys, UK (Solo business traveller) on 08/07/2005
Great value and clean and tidy. The single room is very small, but adequate for an overnight stay en route to Gatwick. Breakfast basic but good. Liked country setting and attention to you as a guest.

9/10 Anonymous (Mature couple) on 07/07/2005

We knew about and accepted aircraft noise, so the charming country setting down leafy lanes was ideal for a weekend retreat. If you want impersonal or deferential service, go somewhere else. This is a place for being yourself.

The building and grounds had great character in an area where most accommodation is characterless because geared to airport users. The hosts were most attentive.

8/10 Lanny from Smithfield, US (Mature couple) on 01/07/2005
The couple that operate the hotel were very nice and very helpful

9/10 Linda from Mississauga, CA (Other) on 30/06/2005
The stay was very good, the owners are very friendly and non-intrusive. The service was excellent, breakfast was very good and no waiting. Even though it is an airport bed and breakfast, it is surprisingly quiet throughout the night. The area is great, lovely countryside. I would definately recommend it for value for money.

10/10 Carol from Santa Ana, US (Group of adult friends) on 24/06/2005
My husband and I were very comfortable in our room, house, and garden. The entire atmophere was helpful and friendly. The pub recommended for dinner was excellent and the staff there very helpful. I certainly would consider staying at Waterhall again when in the area.

This Inn was in a wonderful, relaxed setting, near to the Gatwick Airport. We enjoyed the hospitality of the owners of the Inn also.

The hotel was set in beautiful surroundings and the staff were really helpful. Large, spacious room with excellent view

10/10 Bryn from Cardiff, UK (Solo business traveller) on 14/06/2005
The owners were most helpful and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble. The location was away from it all with a fine view of flights taking off from Gatwick airport. I have immediately booked for another 2 night stay whilst on our annual summer trip to Lindos, Rhodes. It was like home from home. It was immaculately clean and spacious. The surrounding grounds were beautiful. Complete the proposed 9 hole golf course by next time !!

10/10 Maggie from Ypsilanti, US (Young couple) on 13/06/2005
The inn is a lovely alternative to staying at an airport hotel. It is only a few miles from Gatwick Airport. After two weeks of traveling the inn was a welcome retreat, just before returning to the States. We loved their dog, Polly, whom we took on a walk on their beautiful property. We enjoyed the English breakfast in the morning and a trip to a local pub for dinner. The room was comfortable, especially the pillows!

8/10 Sharla from Littleton, US (Solo leisure traveller) on 09/06/2005
Waterhall Country House was a beautiful place and a perfect location as a base for me to take day trips in all directions to see the historical sites in southeast England. I enjoyed my stay there tremendously. I had a very small single, but they had a lovely TV room and sitting room with a bar if I did not wish to stay in my room whenever I was there, as well as a lovely large back area with table and chairs outside.

10/10 Gerald from Romford, UK;GB (Mature couple) on 09/06/2005
The owners were on hand for any questions and as evening meals are not provided Fri and Sat night were happy to book a table at a local pub and even provide transport to and from the venue so that you could have a drink with your meal and not worry. The discription dd not justify the how great the room was, the view was outstanding.

This is a lovely place, making it a good location for anyone needing accommodation before or after a flight from Gatwick, or even for a longer break. It was much more pleasant to stay here than one of the airport hotels. The owners are helpful and friendly and gave us directions both to the airport and to a nice restaurant for dinner.

10/10 Joyce from Vernon, Canada (Other) on 24/05/2005
A very comfortable and attractive hotel. All the needs of the traveller were anticipated and provided. We were able to leave our bags before the check-in time to allow us to return our rental car to the airport and to do some exploring without having to haul our bags around. The room was comfortable and attractively decorated. The shower was hot and the bathroom sparkling clean. The cooked breakfast was delicious. We were able to make as much toast as required, as well as tea and/or coffee. Polly, the lab pup, was good entertainment. The grounds are lovely and the surrounding rural area provided a very nice stroll before bedtime. Mr. & Mrs. Marsh were excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome. It was expecially nice to have a lift to the airport in the morning that allowed us to catch our flight home in plenty of time. A good experience all round and we really appreciated the NO SMOKING rule.

CLEAN ROOM, COMFORABLE BEDS, HOT SHOWER, EXCELLENT BREAKDFAST, LOVELY GROUNDS, LIFT TO AIRPORT, FRIENDLY HOSTS. ONLY DRAWBACK, WE WERE ONLY THERE FOR ONE NIGHT.

10/10 Reginald from Tewkesbury, UK (Mature couple) on 23/05/2005
As a stopover with parking very good VFM. Friendly and helpful staff who recommended an excellent local pub for the evening meal on a night they did not cater. Good breakfast in very pleasant room. Will definitely recommend, ideal for morning flights from Gatwick.

9/10 Adrianna from Boulder, US (Group of adult friends) on 21/05/2005
This B&B sits on a beautiful property, and there are plenty of places to take country walks. The rooms are clean, the showers are hot, and the resident dog is adorable. Waterhall was excellent value for money. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed there as a stopover before getting a flight from Gatwick the following morning. We parked our car at the hotel for a very reasonable price and were given a complimentary lift to the airport in the morning. We were also given a business card of a local taxi firm and shown where they would pick us up from on our return and it was written on the back of the card what we had to say when booking the taxi - just what you need when you are tired after a long haul flight. It was the parking and transport organisation that made Waterhall extra special although they are also excellent as a hotel and we would without doubt stay there again.

Friendly, helpful staff made me feel at home. The room was very clean and larger than I expected. The conservatory used for the breakfast room was really nice. A very convenient place to stay before flying out from Gatwick. I would certainly stay here again, either by myself or with my family. I have visited the UK 2-3 times per year for the last 5 years, and this is the nicest and most convenient hotel I have found so far in the Gatwick area.

Having to find a hotel at short notice is always a trying event. We thoroughly recommend this service and in particular this hotel. The directions were excellent to the hotel and the friendly owners could not have done more for us. We will definitely arrange to stay at this hotel again if we need accommodation in the Gatwick area.

Felt really comfortable, despite being proundly deaf, owner even arranged to have a person who could sign there when I arrived to book in (I can't sign anyway!). Would visit again as a leisure visitor. Abolutely excellent!

Overall a pleasant environment for one night, easy to find and all facilities very acceptable. I would recommend to others who need a hotel local to Gatwick airport.
